Teacher Style ..at last we're back (days 42-44) traveling and teaching

Pardon me for being absent for a while...lots of things going on and off work. But here's few more days of my Teacher Style photo project.
We had halloween theme at school and here's my outfit! Vintage 50's dress and catears and a tail i made myself. (Wonderful 90's film camera vibes in this photo...)

Tired but extremely happy, me and my students organized a fashion show and it was a success!
Wearing vintage and second hand.

I also visited Pietarsaari and the Centria University of Applied SciencesI was invited there to teach the millinery basics to a very cool and motivated group of people. I was very happy to share my knowledge with those young talents.

Teacher Style day 20, the drass that's too short

Hat - 60's vintage
Cardigan - second hand
Dress - 1940's dress (that's actually 'too short' for me because i hardly ever wear short skirts/dresses, but since the waistline is on the right place and the measurements are just right, i wear it in the summertime)

Teacher Style day 15

Hat - vintage
Woolen jumper - wonderful 1940's vintage jumper! Found dumpster diving. The original blue collar was made of silk and it was in very bad shape so i had to make a new one. I found cotton fabric that was just the same colour as the original.

Dyeing to get the perfect red

I was dj'ing a week ago @FLIRT!, a party that combines burlesque and dance music. I was playing electro swing, but there were also house, indie and disco dj's that night. And the combination worked! We had a fun night...

That wonderful vintage blouse i found while dumpster diving. It amazes me what people throw away.
The black leather pencil skirt is a fleamarket find.

By the way, how do you like my hair colour? I've stopped using strong chemicals and started to use natural henna ( i used MacUrths henna but next time i might try something else). That shade of red is just what i wanted! I still have to practise a bit more to get the best result, but for the first time i think i did a pretty good job. I've stopped dyeing my hair nearly 3 months ago before my first henna experiment. (You can imagine how my hair looked with dark roots.. :D)

This picture below shows my natural hair colour. I'm 15 in this photo.

From left: Leena (my mothers cousin), Me and Maija (my cousin). You've seen Maija here before :)

The main reasons for me to stop dyeing my hair were the health risks.
(Research in Sweden suggested that chemicals found in colouring products might damage the immune system, triggering rheumatoid arthritis. Some chemicals have already been shown to cause bladder cancer. Source)

As you can see, my hair is not always in perfect order...haha! Dancing leads to messy hair, and sometimes to something else too...
That hat is, ofcourse, a Fiona Timantti creation.

I'm in love with my huge diamond

Ok, i'm sorry, but i like these blurry hipstamatic snapshots... :D

That mint green diamond is mine! The designer behind these fabulous diamonds is Tero Kuitunen. This pic is from his blog. If you want one for yourself, you can buy one online from the END-Shop.
I bought mine few months ago...

...and I would like to wear it every day.

The Beautiful Mother Nature

I love Helsinki, especially in the summer time. I usually walk to work, and on the way i have time to be amazed by the wonderfull colours nature creates.

On a warm sunny day i like to sit under the trees ( i'm not interested of getting a tan, on the contrary).

On my way to work i pass the Esplanadi park. It's very busy at the summer time and very beautiful too.

This is a 50 years old popple in Sakaris backyard.

One of my favourites, Syringa (lilac). The scent takes me back to my childhood, 'cause there were Lilacs next to my grandmothers house.

I can't wait to get some time off from work, so i can go to the coutryside. For now i just have to settle for these planted beauties.

My little rascals Bix & Cecil exploring the jungle (the bushes in our backyard).
