Black Angel, 1946. It's a shame that Peter Lorre didn't usually get bigger parts, i think he was marvelous.
Miss Marlowe has a pretty swell flat..

Good movies, strange love and slapping
Lately i've been very busy, so i've had no time to just sit at home anf wach movies. Except for these two. The first one in a typical film noir, 'The Strange Love of Martha Ivers' (1946). A boy, Sam, and a girl, Martha, are trying to run away together, but they are caught by the police. The girl is taken back home to her aunt (bully!) but the boy flees and leaves town (in a circus caravan!). Something horrible happen in the Ivers household...
Years later Sam returns to Iverstown and meets Martha and her husband. And a striking blonde.. If you're a fan of Film Noir, you shoud see this movie. This one has it all, drama, love and hate, bitterness, ambition, romance and ofcourse.. Murder (actually more than one..)!

The costume designer in this film was Edith Head. She was also credited in the movie 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plade' ( one of my favourite movies!<3).
The other one was a silent film classic from 1924, 'He Who Gets Slapped.'
(Did you know, that this was the first film to feature Leo the Lion roaring as MGM's logo. Designed by Howard Dietz, the logo was first used for the Goldwyn Pictures Corporation film Polly of the Circus (1917) and passed to MGM when Goldwyn merged with two other companies to form MGM. Thanks IMDB for that fact :).
It's a tragic story about a betrayed man who ends up in a circus. He's caracter is a clown that gets slapped by all the other clowns. HE falls in love with a beautiful girl who is also working in the circus, but when HE tries to reveal his feelings for her, she thinks he's only joking. And no, there is no happy ending...
The beautiful Consuelo (Norma Shearer) and Paul Beaumont/HE (Lon Chaney).
IMDB tells that Bela Lugosi was one of the extras in this film, one of the clowns, but it's unconfirmed and he's uncredited.
I highly recommend this film.

Dark things
Dark Passage, one of my favourite movies. I'm a huge fan on Film Noir and this one has "The Breathless romance" in it too. Bogart and Bacall, what a pair!
Dark city is one of my all time favourites as well and a brilliant neo-noir. I love the crazy mix of decades. The casting is great, the story is great, and the costumes... I highly recommend you to see this film, i you haven't!
