Leopard craze!

I might get tired of some patterns or change my opinion about colors, but it seems that i'll never get tired of leopard pattern.
This coat i bought from Fida. It's 60's vintage, it costed 30 e. I usually never pay that much for a coat..

This one is from Fida Too, 3 e.

Shiny black plastic and furry faux furrrr..So cute! Vintage, 2 e from flea market.

This picture is from Hopeapeili magazine, January issue 1953. Jacket by Maggie Rouff, hat by Marie Christian.

These shoes are quite nice. I like the shape of the heel. Unfortunately these are not mine :/ You can buy yours from Electrique Boutique.

This is what i've been doin' lately. Leopard muffs and collars. If you wanna buy one of these, hurry! I have only few of these left! Send me e-mail (fionatimantti(at)gmail.com) if you are interested.

This is a new design of mine. There's also gonna be a leopard version :)

Here's my friend Taina. Shes my wonderful knitter <3 That pile of yarn is going to transform into Fiona Timantti berets!

Hats!

I love those little hats! And that outfit on the right could easily fit my closet...

Good movies, strange love and slapping

Lately i've been very busy, so i've had no time to just sit at home anf wach movies. Except for these two. The first one in a typical film noir, 'The Strange Love of Martha Ivers' (1946). A boy, Sam, and a girl, Martha, are trying to run away together, but they are caught by the police. The girl is taken back home to her aunt (bully!) but the boy flees and leaves town (in a circus caravan!). Something horrible happen in the Ivers household...
Years later Sam returns to Iverstown and meets Martha and her husband. And a striking blonde.. If you're a fan of Film Noir, you shoud see this movie. This one has it all, drama, love and hate, bitterness, ambition, romance and ofcourse.. Murder (actually more than one..)!
"Fait drew them together ... And only murder could part them!"

Sam (Van Heflin), Toni (Lizabeth Scott) and Martha (Barbara Stanwyck).

Antonia 'Toni' Marachek (Lizabeth Scott).

Martha Ivers (Barbara Stanwyck). I love that dress!
The costume designer in this film was Edith Head. She was also credited in the movie 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plade' ( one of my favourite movies!<3).

The other one was a silent film classic from 1924, 'He Who Gets Slapped.'
(Did you know, that this was the first film to feature Leo the Lion roaring as MGM's logo. Designed by Howard Dietz, the logo was first used for the Goldwyn Pictures Corporation film Polly of the Circus (1917) and passed to MGM when Goldwyn merged with two other companies to form MGM. Thanks IMDB for that fact :).
It's a tragic story about a betrayed man who ends up in a circus. He's caracter is a clown that gets slapped by all the other clowns. HE falls in love with a beautiful girl who is also working in the circus, but when HE tries to reveal his feelings for her, she thinks he's only joking. And no, there is no happy ending...
The beautiful Consuelo (Norma Shearer) and Paul Beaumont/HE (Lon Chaney).

IMDB tells that Bela Lugosi was one of the extras in this film, one of the clowns, but it's unconfirmed and he's uncredited.

I highly recommend this film.

Allotria

In Vallila the is a really nice restaurant called 'Allotria'. We went there one night with Sakari. I've been there ones before, but this was the first time i had something to eat. The location is great (Sakari lives just around the corner), music was good (mainly jazz), food was ok, and the interior is really nice. If you are in Helsinki area, you should visit this place. And they serve breakfast too! I think there are not enough nice restaurants in Helsinki that serve decent breakfast.

The other side of Fiona Timantti

..is of course my drag character DJ Jalo Kivinen! The name is not funny, if you are not Finnish. Jalokivi=jewl, gem (like a diamond..Timantti=diamond) and Jalo is a finnish, a bit old fashioned name for a man. Jalo also means noble.
Here's dj Jalo Kivinen and his halloween cat at Wäiski, Dr.Sketchy fright night 30.10.2009.

Here's Jalo and Lola Vanilla and the Golden Pussy.

These pictures are from the night Jalo was seen for the first time. It was the Helsinki Burlesquenew comers night 2009. More newComers night pics here!
Dj Miroslove Satan & Dj Jalo Kivinen

Quite charming chap, wouldn't you say?
That tailcoat and the top hat are vintage, and in great shape. I hope Jalo takes good care of them...

P.s. We had a delightful Halloween party on saturday also, but because it was a kinky-halloween party, arranged with the SMRF i don't have any pictures (photographing was forbidden). But luckily Atelier O.Haapala was there! :D So i have one or two pictures of my party outfit taken in their portable atelier!

Circus Finlandia, what a show!

We went to see the Sirkus Finlandia show last tuesday with the HulaPirates gang here in Helsinki. The show was awesome! It had everything that a circus act needs, horses, sea lions, cats (<3), juggling (with fire!), clowns, unicycles...

Here we are, looking very smart with our new noses.

Here's some photos from Sirkus Finlandia homepage. They are a bit small, sorry :/ (i downloaded the small one by mistake, and the big ones are not available anymore..)

Me, Masha, Sally. I'm wearing one on my favourite 40's vintage hats and a faux fur collar (from my collection).

Remember kids! Smoking is bad and it makes you look like a clown!

Goodbye, Sirkus Finlandia! Can't wait to see you again next year!

Updates..

So much party photos, so little time to post them! Heres some pics from Atelier O.Haapala birthday party and from 'All Burlesque'...

There was lot's of champagne and a cake that was shaped like a zeppelin!

The location was super! We were in one of the oldest hotels in Helsinki, Hotelli Seurahuone.
History of hotelli Seurahuone
'At the end of the 1820s, Helsinki sorely needed distinguished, stylish premises for festivities. The Town Hall had become far too small and was unable to meet the demand. A meeting held in the Helsinki Magistrate’s Office on 29 November 1827 drew attention to the town’s lack of a decent hotel and restaurant operator. This led to the decision to establish the Hotel Seurahuone, and on 29 January 1828 a Board of Directors was appointed for the new joint-stock company. The grand opening of the new hotel, designed by architect Carl Ludvig Engel, took place on 8 December 1833.'
The Hotel Seurahuone Helsinki is Finland’s oldest hotel operating without interruption.
More about Hotelli Seurahuone.

Here are the two geniuses behind Atelieri O.Haapala, Helmut and Onyxei!

I've had my picture taken by them five times. Here's one on my favourite, from the Helsinki Burlesque festival 2008.

Lumimarja, Saara (a.k.a. Onyxei) and me posing.

After the birthday party, i rushed to work.
As you probably remember, i had a gig in DTM. It was 'Women only' burlesque party, starring Sugar Kane, The Itty Bitty Tease Cabaret and Burlesque Polaire.

Here's my outfit for the night. The dress is so short...I woud normally never ever wear something this tiny, but Dj gigs are a whole 'nother story.. I love to wear wigs. You can change your style so easily. This black one is probably my favourite. Here's me wearing a blonde wig. The latex outfit is by Kirsi Nisonen. This picture was taken few months ago when i had dj gig in tampere, Fetish Factory 2009.
