The Black Angel, 1946

Black Angel, 1946. It's a shame that Peter Lorre didn't usually get bigger parts, i think he was marvelous.

Miss Marlowe has a pretty swell flat..

And some nice dresses too.

Dreaming about summer and Berlin

 Riikka( i LOVE that hat!)

Me

I found these photos while looking for something totally different from my laptop. This winter has been so long and cold, or atleast it feels like it when you are so eagelry waiting for summer. These photos were taken in Tampere where we had our Fintage, vintage society meeting.

The other thing i'm dreaming about (besides New York, i'm always dreaming about New York) is Berlin. I saw a documentary about the 1930's cabaret in Berlin called "The real Cabaret" (England 2009) where actor Alan Cumming travels to find out the facts about the story behind the oscar winning movie.
In Finland you can see the documentary here.
Oh, and if you haven't seen my Blogistania episode, you can see it here (17 days left to watch it).
You can only watch it is Finland, sorry :/

Dames don't Care?

This is the cover of one of the books i'm reading at the moment, Peter Cheyney - Dame's Don't Care.
(Filmed as Les femmes s'en balancent, France; Bernard Borderie, 1954.)

There are four things i love about this book:

-The cover art is by Poika Vesanto, my favourite illustrator
-It's a detective story from the 30's (1937)
-It's a vintage paper back, printed 1947 (i collect them)
-the translation is brilliant! I have to add an example for my finnish readers...

"Yksi korokkeella seisovista kavereista laulaa kuolevansa rakkaudesta ja murskaa vielä varmasti sydämen joltain naikkoselta. Hänen äänensä on noin niinkuin sitä lajia, joka saa tempperamentikkaan kaunokaisen kaipaamaan luostariin tai johonkin muuhun sopivaan eriöön."

Oh, vanity...

 Old photo found here

 Rita Hayworth

Barbara Stanwyck. I love that dress!

Jean Harlow. A bit too much, don't you think?

Greta Garbo. The wonderful Greta.

This is my old vanity. It's from the 50's and it's super cute! I just don't have room for it anymore, since i got a new one, a bit older, art deco style vanity. I would like to keep them both..
You like it? Buy it! :)

Bix want's to be the center of the attention, as usual.

The photo of Rita and Barbara are from Bonnie's blog, here's a link to her post back in 2009. Lot's of pics of movie stars and their vanities!

Ok, i'm sorry, but i like these blurry hipstamatic snapshots... :D

That mint green diamond is mine! The designer behind these fabulous diamonds is Tero Kuitunen. This pic is from his blog. If you want one for yourself, you can buy one online from the END-Shop.
I bought mine few months ago...

...and I would like to wear it every day.

Wearing: second hand beret, 80's blouse, second hand skirt, 40's handbag, shoes ...
